Quote:"For a contributing citizen to be released from the community was a final decision, a terrible punishment, an overwhelming statement of failure."
Reaction:If they take that so seriously I wonder what they do to people that kill other people. Also what happens if they get released? Do they go to another community or something. How shameful is it, and is it so shameful that if they talk about it do they get released? is it so shameful that the family members are ashamed of the person who got released.
Chapter 2
Quote:"But to be honest, Jonas," his father said, "for me there was not the element of suspense that there is with your Ceremony. Because I was already fairly certain of what my Assignment was to be."
Reaction:That was weird because why would they tell his dad what his assignment was to be and not him, or maybe they where going to tell him but just in the ceremony. That's still not fair though they should still just tell him what his assignment was so there's no pressure. Anyways they should just let them pick there Assignment. If they couldn't why not?
Chapter 3
Quote:"The apple had changed. Just for an instant. It had changed in mid-air, he remembered. Then it was in his hand, and he looked at it carefully, but it was the same apple. Unchanged. The same size and shape: a perfect sphere. The same nondescript shade."
Reaction:Wow that's so weird, basically indescribable for me. I mean how could an apple change in mid-air and change back so it seems to just look like it never really did change? I'm really speechless. Another thing is that what changed in the apple? Was it the shape, or maybe he started to see the color red and then it just turned back to what it was before.
Chapter 4
Quote:"What happens when they make the actual release? Where exactly did Roberto go?"
Reaction:That is true, what does happen? did he go to another community, did he just not have another community to go to, and what did they do to him after he was released? What about his family? what do they do to his family. Doesn't the family miss him. what does the family do, do they get a new child or do they just stay with one?
Chapter 5
Quote:"You're ready for the pills, that's all. That's the treatment for stirrings."
Reaction:That was weird. What do they mean by "That's the treatment for the stirrings.?" What are stirrings anyways? Are they for sick people or something? Does it kill them if they have too much? Is it for babies? For sick babies? Are they for really old people that are really sick and just want to die,so that thing kills them?
Chapter 6
Quote:"Those who were released were sent Elsewhere and never returned to the community."
Reaction:I wonder what happened tp them. I wonder if another community takes them in or if he's just left without a community. if they're left without a 7community how will they eat? Or even, WHAT will they eat. Where do they end up? If another community sent them in what would happen if they get released from that community.
Chapter 7
Quote:"He couldn't seem to stop, though for each lapse the discipline wand came again, escalating to a series of painful lashes that left marks on Asher's legs. Eventually, for a period of time, Asher stopped talking altogether, when he was a Three."
Reaction:That is harsh, so for every word that he spoke he got hit with a discipline wand. That should hurt really badly especially since he was a three. Another thing is that they hit him so continuously it left marks or scars on his legs, so he probably couldn't walk really well. Also, another sad thing is that because they hit him so hard everytime he talked he eventually stopped talking altogether.
Chapter 8
Quote:"Jonas has been selected to be our next Receiver of Memory"
Reaction:That is so cool that he gets to be the Receiver of Memory, but kind of scary because you have to remember all the memories from the past, and what if you forget? Do you get realeased? Who gives you the memories from the past anyways? Is there a person who gives the memories to you? If there is, how does he get the memories?
Chapter 9
Quote:"What happened to her?"he asked nervously. But his parents looked blank. "We don't know."
Reaction:That is so weird in a kind of freaky way. How could his own parents not know what happened to there own daughter? Either way what happened to her anyways? Did she brake her leg, did she brake her arm? Why don't her parents know what happened? It's kind of strange that her parents don't know what happened.
Chapter 10
Quote:"He couldn't imagine what the thousands of pages contained."
Reaction:Wow, thousands of pages of something, maybe, interesting. Not knowing or even being able to imagine what inside it. He was probably going nuts or something like that. It was probably something like magic spells or secrets that people were probably hiding from the community.
Chapter 1
